Getting Fit After Pregnancy – Quickly and Safely by AJ Stamp
Getting fit after pregnancy and losing the pregnancy pounds can be a daunting task, especially if you’ve been eating for two for the past nine months. After getting the go-ahead from your doctor, it’s time to start taking care of yourself and your physical fitness.
Many women do not have the luxury of having someone to watch their baby while they go outside and exercise. Therefore, one of the easiest and most convenient exercises you can perform is walking. Taking your new baby out in the stroller or jogging stroller is a great way for you to get back in shape, and also spend some bonding time with your baby.
Depending on the time of year, outdoor exercise with your baby may not be possible, so getting in your exercise at home while your baby naps may be your only option. Try walking or jogging on a quiet treadmill, or lifting light weights to spring those muscles back into shape. A quick yoga session can do the trick also, and there are many other exercise videos available for those who workout at home.
Watching what you eat is the next important step to weight loss. No matter how you ate during your pregnancy, nutrition does not start with chocolate cake! While you may have had some leeway before, now it’s time to focus on your health. If you’re breast feeding, make sure you don’t reduce your calories too low or you may stop the production of your breast milk.
This is a good time to have a chat with a nutritionist, and cut out some of those carbs you ate to gain healthy baby weight. Sticking to protein, fruits, and vegetables will help you to shed those post-pregnancy pounds quickly and safely. Eating small but frequent meals during the day will help you to stay full and avoid unwise snacking choices. Always plan your meals, and have emergency healthy snacks on hand to combat those days when nothing goes as expected!
Remember, before starting any diet or exercise program, speak with your physician. It’s always best to have an expert evaluate your specific needs.
