Wives Tales About Baby Gender

There’s no doubt that there are a lot of wives tales about baby gender out there that claim to tell you that they have the ability to predict the gender of your unborn baby. It’s enticing for expectant mothers to fall for this, because it’s so long to wait for that twenty week ultrasound. If you want a specific gender from your unborn baby, this is especially true of expectant parent. Here are a few of the popular wives tales about baby gender and baby gender selection.

1. People look at how the baby is carried. The story goes that girls are carried higher, and boys are carried lower. Though, it doesn’t always go that way. How you carry the baby really depends on your body type and is not indicative of the sex of your baby.

2. The baby’s heart beat. Indeed, my own grandmother subscribes to this wives tale about baby gender. People believe that if the heart beats faster than 140 beats per minute, then it is a baby girl; and if the heart beats slower than 140 beats per minute than it’s a baby boy. It would be great in a perfect world that this is true–it sounds nice enough: but sadly, that’s just an old wives tale.

3. The degree of morning sickness. The wives tale says that if you have protracted moring sickness, you are going to have a baby girl. Unfortunately, this is not the case. Everyone goes through a unique experience in each pregnancy: hence it’s an individual thing. Ryme or reason is just not there.

4. Foretelling Schedule: Chinese. This is based on maternal age and the month (based on a Chinese calendar). I have to admit that I was curious and so i followed the instrctions based on my son, and he should have been a girl. So…it’s obviously not always accurate. In the end, you really have a 1 in 2 chance either way.

5. The motion of the baby. A wives tale is that if you have movement during your pregnancy that means this: a boy. Now, this is an individual situation where everyone is different and does not point out a pattern that has been empirically verified..

6. What’s called the Drano method. You mix drano with your urine to determine gender. I would not advise it as it is not accurate anyway.

7. The wedding ring method. Hanging your ring by a thread and holding over mom’s belly while she is lying down. If it goes in a circular motion, the baby is a girl.
