should i be worried about h1n1 and pregnancy?
my mom told me she heard that h1n1 is affecting pregnant women really bad. and i plan on ttc in december the peak of flu season. oh and like every one around this area are getting it right now. so my question is should i be worried about h1n1 after i get pregnant more than im worrying now? and will it even matter too much if i get pregnant in december i will not even be past my first trimester when flu season is over so i was wondering if im only in my first trimester would it even matter?
From what I’ve heard, it’s women in their third trimesters that are having the worst results with the flu. The women that died all delayed treatment after developing symptoms, since doctors tend to hesitate putting pregnant women on medications.
If you’re pregnant and have the flu, you should take tamiflu and extra strength tylenol to keep the fever down. This is less risky than a high fever when you are pregnant.
My friend just had the flu and she’s only about 12 weeks along, and she did just fine.
I don’t think it’s anything to worry about, especially since you’ll only be in your first trimester.
